This is the main naval base on the west coast of Australia. Garden Island is situated approximately 50 kms (30 miles) south of Perth near the city of Rockingham (population approx. 70,000). The island is a protected area for the Tamar Wallaby and Tiger snakes (though I haven't worked that one out yet). The causeway is approxiumately 6kms long and only motorised traffic is allowed to traverse across it, much to the disappointment of those fitter than me. *LOL*
