TOP PERFORMANCE: Members of the Mandurah Swimming Club after their dominant runs in the pool recently.

MANDURAH Swimming Club won the Country Pennants 2003 A division by a record margin from archrivals Golden West Dolphins and Kalgoorlie in Geraldton last month. The winning margin of 129 points was 90 more than last year's margin when Mandurah won A division for the first time. Mandurah also won the D division pennant in fine style.
The number two team quickly asserted dominance over its rivals and established a winning lead early on day one of the swim meet. The final winning margin of 215 points ahead of second-placed Peel Aquatic underlined the immense depth of talent within the Mandurah Swimming Club and this team could have performed successfully in higher divisions.
Both Mandurah teams also won the medley and freestyle relay events trophies to add to their pennants successes. The presentation night added further glory for Mandurah when Jemma Hawkins, 9, and Lisande Dingjan, 13, won trophies for their excellent performances in swimming times closest to State record times for their age groups.
In another season highlight, Mandurah Swimming Club retained the prestigious trophy awarded to the most successful country club in the WA Championships series. The medal haul and points scored by individual swimmers were the biggest tallied in the club's history.
Swimmers who contributed to the history making feat were: Thomas Atanasovski (one silver), Jemma Hawkins, Ethan Williamson, Lyle Campbell (two gold, one bronze), Yanni Williamson, Lisande Dingjan (one gold, four silver), Jessica Ellis, Dolan Nilson (two bronzes) Brett Jenkinson (three bronze) John Niessl (one silver, one bronze), Clare Wood and Tyler Clews.
