Firstly: the introductions: I am Veronica Maude Bates, but everyone calls me Ronnie. My husband, John and I, have just shifted to live at a retirement village called Village Life Mandurah 2. Unit 33, 2 Bower Drive ERSKINE WA 6210. You can ring us on (08) 9535 7686 or on the mobile on 0431 830460 we are not too far from where we were in Dawesville, Western Australia. Dawesville is half way between Perth and Bunbury, 18 km from Mandurah and if you take the trouble to look at the map of Western Australia you will have no trouble finding Mandurah . We are now only 3 km from Mandurah and right near the estuary, situated between the Indian Ocean and the Peel/Harvey Estuary. This fairly large area where we live is which takes in Dawesville, Halls Head, Erskine, Falcon etc is actually an island with the two traffic bridges from Mandurah (bringing traffic from Perth) and the Dawesville Channel bridge (taking traffic heading further south) as the only entries and exits from this island unless you like a long swim.
The weather is warm to hot in summer but not normally humid and in the winter it is very mild, with a reasonable amount of rain. The Spring & Autumn are also special seasons with mostly light sunny days.
We have only been at Dawesville since building our retirement home in 1995. We have shifted into Village Life in August 2004. Prior to that we had lived for 32 years in Cloverdale, which is situated close to Perth near the airport and of course, our employment.
We have one son, Malcolm, who was a Warrant Officer in the Australian Army for 26 years and his family who live in Brisbane Queensland. Malcolm now working in Building Industry training and apprenticeships. We also have two daughters, Cathie a Principal of a Catholic Primary School and Vicki a school teacher and their families who live in Perth suburbs.
