Sackville Hamilton CARDEN Sir. 1857-1930 
Served Egyptian War 1882, Suakim 1884, Benin 1897.
In 1870 he entered the Navy, 1910 Rear Admiral Atlantic Fleet; 1912 Admin.Supt. Malta Dockyard; 1914-1915 in Command of Allied Squadrons in Dardanelles. 1915 Incapacitated by illness.

Frederick CARDEN Lieut.
1821-1844
Frederick was a Lieut. 52nd Regt.  He was 23 years old when he died.

Nicholas CARDEN 1825-1873
First British Commissariat Dept in the Crimea.  Buried with full Military Honors Trim Cemetery Ireland.  He was also Head Constable of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Trim.

Major John Carden.
60 Regt., killed in the battle of Charleston in 1781.  Married at Gretna Green in 1767 to Sarah Carden.


John Rory CARDEN. 1919-1941
Unmarried. R.N. College Dartmore, Best Cadet of Year. Volunteered for Fleet Air Arm. Lieut. H.M.S. "Audacity" (first escort aircraft carrier) Missing after torpedoed on passage Gibraltar to England via Azores. December 1941. Son of Revd. Cannon Henry Craven Carden and Olive Carden of Kilmeston Vicarage, Alresford, Hampshire. Awarded the King's Dirk in H.M.S. Frobisher.

Re-enlisted Melbourne 2 August 1917 Embarked Sydney 22 March 1818. To France. Disembarked London 24 May 1818. Medically discharged 10 July 1919. Returned to Australia.

There is no greater gift than this, " that they lay down their life for their friend".  This was their gift to all of us.  They answered the call  not because they wanted to but because it was their duty.
