Crest - A Lion rampant, same as in Arms. Moto - "Pour ma Foi." Translated "For my Faith"
The de Guérin of Co. Devon, bear similar Arms, but substitute for fourth quartering Azure, on a fess argent, between three cock pheasants or, as many cross-bows sable (for Read).
The recent discovery of a visiting card of Daniel Guérin, Commander R.N., with wax impression of the "Lion rampant, armed tongued and crowned," induced further investigation in Agenais, which led to the conclusive proof that Daniel de Guérin, the Huguenot, was the son of Jean, Seigneur de Teule and La Chaize. compiled by William Collings Lukis de Guérin. printed 1890.
The wax impression was sent to the Heralds' College, London, and Dr. George W. Marshall "Rouge Croix" pronounced it to be an original, or fac-simile of, engraving made not later than the end of the seventeenth century - and it is not improbable that the seal or ring from which the impression was taken may have been given to Daniel as a souvenir, by his nephew Jean Pierre de Guérin, Seigneur de La Chaize, when the refugee revisited France in 1699.
