MEDICAL HISTORY
This would be an ideal situation to find the origins of an hereditary disease in this family called
BRACHYDACTYLY with HYPERTENSION
Forewarned is forearmed -- therefore, well researched and documented Family History allows medical conditions that flow from one generation to another to be detected and studied.
Brachydactyly with Hypertension is characterized and linked to stubby fingers and some times feet but once the condition is detected and diagnosed it is possibly to live a normal life span - where the condition is untreated it tends to cause early death by stroke before the age of 50.
We have 5 generation of such a family in Western Australian diagnosed with this condition but back further it is very hard to decide into which family line the Brachydactyly with Hypertension and sometimes also with low blood pressure was first detected and in order to trace this ourselves we need to see if any descendants with the condition can be detected in other branches of the Price family descendants living in Australia.
So far I know only of the cases in the Price Family in Western Australia who are descended from the Matthew Price in the Channel Islands, and thought originally from Wales. Other family names can be seen in the Origins of the Price Family in previous pages and it is possible that this gene could have come from anywhere within the ancestry back further than Matthew Gaunt PRICE born 1888.
Please contact me if you come across this type of condition in your family, particularly the stubby fingers and feet, if the family appears in any way connected to this line.
